Jackie Chan: The Real Action Hero

Jackie Chan is an actor whom we all know very well and the first thing that comes to everyone's mind after listening the name is ACTION, STUNTS and high flying moves. HAIYAA!!

So we all know much about him.... But is that 'much' sufficient? Let's take a look at the compiled work of Jackie Chan's greatest and 'OUCH' moments.

Lights, Camera,...........HAIYAAA!

Jackie Chan (real name: Chan Kong-sang) was born on 7th April 1954 in the divine land of Hong-Kong. He was, from childhood days, very fond of doing stunts and martial arts. Today also he is known for his acrobatic fighting style. He is acting since 1960's and has done over 100 movies. He has also appeared in various cartoons, comic books, video games, songs......the list is endless. He also founded the Jackie Chan Charitable Organization in 1998. Now you can read rest of his biography on Wikipedia. But for now let's move on to the section you've all been waiting for....

STUNTS

Chan has done uncountable stunts in various movies like First Strike, Armour of God, Who Am I, Supercop, Winners and Sinner, Police Story and on and on.....
He has tried his hand on almost every thing, from ice skating to jumping from a helicopter.
His most shocking stunt was in Armour of God. He jumped from a cliff and landed straight into a hot air balloon, and the reaction of audience was "What just happened?!!"

His favorite stunt was in the same movie of which we will talk in the next section. He holds a world record for 'Most Stunts By A Living Actor'. He also holds a record which is mostly unknown to the world for the maximum number of takes for a single shot. He did 2,900 retakes for a scene in the movie Dragon Lord.

INJURIES: The 'OUCH' moments

So we talked about his favorite stunt in the previous section, it wasn't just his favorite stunt but also his worst injury. In this stunt he had to jump from a castle and land on a tree and along the way hitting several things. In this stunt he landed horribly head first causing a permanent hole in his head and a plug to keep his brains in.

His worst injuries are given on the right side which is popularly know as 'Jackie Chan's Injury Map'. Too many injuries enough to make a map. Horrifying!!

Jackie insisted on doing various gravity, logic and speed-defying stunts on his own due to which he often ended with an injury either on his head, toe, nose, hands etc.

Many people suggested him not to do such dangerous stunts and risk his life but the reply was that he enjoyed it a lot.
And when we see his stunts on the big screen, we, especially children enjoy a lot!

Despite action, stunts and high flying moves, he does various roles which touches our heart, like the one in 'The Karate Kid' in which he plays a teacher. He is a personality to be inspired from. In 1982, Jackie Chan married Lin-Feng Jiao (aka Jaon Lin), a Taiwanese actress. That same year, the two had a son, singer and actor Jaycee Chan. Chan is a Buddhist.
He speaks Cantonese, Mandarin and English fluently, and also speaks some German, Korean and Japanese, as well as a little Spanish.
In 2009, Chan received an honorary doctorate from the University of Cambodia.
